The leather-bound book "In Search of Energy" by Yergin Daniel The leather-bound book "In Search of Energy" by Yergin Daniel Daniel Yergin's book was conceived as an attempt to understand the issues of shaping the energy picture of the world and to talk about the problems of modern energy. Despite the incredible complexity of the topic, the book is written in simple and understandable language and reads more than just fascinating. For example, already in the preface to his book, Daniel Yergin explains very clearly the relationship between any social crisis in the Persian Gulf countries and an instant increase in oil prices around the world, and also talks about what political power and benefits access to energy sources gives a country, what security guarantees it provides, and what kind of responsibility does it imply. The book goes on to address such issues as: • The path of nuclear energy development after World War II; • Features of the oil world map formed after the collapse of the Soviet Union; • Transformation of the American natural gas market as a result of George Mitchell's "shale boom"; • Search for new energy sources; • The importance of renewable energy sources for the global economy of the 21st century; • The mutual influence of environmental issues and energy.

Autographed photo of the politician Leonid Brezhnev Autographed photo of the politician Leonid Brezhnev Leonid Brezhnev was a Soviet statesman and party leader who held the highest leadership position in the CPSU for 18 years, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, and a participant in the Victory Day Parade on Red Square on June 24, 1945. Brezhnev didn't have many passions. One of them is good cars. U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger recalled one of his trips to Moscow: "One day in Zavidovo, Brezhnev led me to a black Cadillac that Nixon had given him a year ago. Brezhnev got behind the wheel, I sat next to him, and we sped at high speed along very narrow and winding roads. One could only pray that a policeman would appear at the nearest intersection and put an end to this crazy race. But who would dare to stop the car of the general secretary of the party...". Foreign leaders knew about Brezhnev's love of cars and willingly gave him expensive copies. Once, after receiving a gift from the German leadership in the form of a sports Mercedes, the Secretary General complained that it was not painted in proletarian red. I had to give them a new one.

Autographed photo of the politician Mikhail Gorbachev Autographed photo of the politician Mikhail Gorbachev Mikhail Gorbachev is a Soviet and Russian statesman, political, party and public figure. During Gorbachev's tenure as head of state and head of the CPSU, the Soviet Union underwent major changes: perestroika, the introduction of glasnost policy, "new political thinking", freedom of speech and the press, democratic elections, the reform of the socialist economy towards a market model, the end of the Cold War, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, and the collapse of the USSR and the Warsaw Bloc. A photo from the Stargift collection shows Mikhail Gorbachev with his wife and a delegation during an official event. An important aspect of Gorbachev's policy was "glasnost" - greater openness and freedom of speech. This measure has become key to the country's transition to more democratic structures. Mikhail Gorbachev was true to his views and showed them even in his personal life. Interestingly, he publicly showed warmth to his wife, often took her hand and always stood by her side, which was unusual for top Soviet leaders. Raisa Gorbacheva, Mikhail Gorbachev's wife, was in the spotlight as the first lady of the Soviet Union. For the first time officially, Raisa Gorbachev tried on this image during a visit to the UK to meet with Margaret Thatcher. She accompanied her husband on his foreign trips to strengthen international relations, as well as Soviet political and cultural events. Increasingly, journalists began to pay attention to Gorbacheva's fashionable fur coats and suits. The First lady was quickly recognized as one of the most stylish women in the USSR. Later, she shared that she dresses at the All-Union Fashion House on Kuznetsky Most, where other stars of that time, such as Alla Pugacheva and Slava Zaitsev, often visited. Her style has been described as subtle, intelligent, restrained and romantic. In addition, Raisa took an active part in public and educational activities, was the chairman of the Public Fund for Support of Educational Restructuring, which was engaged in reforms in the educational system of the Soviet Union. Contemporaries noted that she did a lot for the freedom of the creative intelligentsia: artists, poets, singers and the press. Under the Gorbachevs, it became possible to read, watch, see and get a good book.

Autographed photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin Autographed photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin Vladimir Putin is a Russian statesman, politician and military figure. The current President of the Russian Federation. As a child, the president loved watching Soviet tapes about secret service agents and dreamed of working in government departments: "Even before I graduated from high school, I had a desire to work in intelligence. But soon I wanted to become a sailor. But again, as an agent. And at the very beginning, I really wanted to become a pilot." At school, the future head of state was not eager to study, was not a diligent student and mostly got C's, but teachers always noted his potential and flexibility of mind. The President said that his enthusiasm came to him already in high school, where he developed a craving for reading and humanities. He was inspired to "Gnaw the granite of science" by his beloved German teacher, Vera Gurevich, who later wrote memoirs about her famous student's school years. To this day, Putin remembers his teacher with respect and keeps in touch with her.

The magazine of satire "Crocodile". Moscow: Pravda Newspaper Publishing House, file numbers 1-35, 1970 The magazine of satire "Crocodile". Moscow: Pravda Newspaper Publishing House, file numbers 1-35, 1970 Crocodile is a Soviet and Russian satirical magazine. The symbol of the publication is a red crocodile with a pitchfork. Krokodil was founded in 1922, initially as an appendix to Rabochaya Gazeta, and was published once a week. Crocodile magazine was the most popular and main magazine, which published satirical materials about everyday life. His satire has not lost its relevance in our days. Traditionally, the subject of jokes for the magazine has been sloppiness, drunkenness, laziness, and the negligence of managers and employees. The cartoons of the 1960s surprised with an unusual turn of the subject, an unexpected situation, and a witty signature. For several years, there has been a story about executives who are too "loaded" with all kinds of meetings, replacing their real work with a series of meetings. The witty caricatures about the service culture aroused the approval and delight of caricature connoisseurs and readers of the magazine. The cartoonists came to the attention of the creative intelligentsia, its connoisseurs, and those who earned money from them. Satirical caricaturists also paid attention to amateur art. In the 1950s, the magazine addressed the issues of everyday life and morality of the Soviet people. In each issue, the reader was introduced to the works of various artists. Mikhail Zoshchenko, Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov, Valentin Kataev, Viktor Ardov and many others worked on the materials of the issues on an ongoing basis. Personal funds stored in the Glavarchive also testify to the popularity and relevance of the Crocodile in the twentieth century. Thus, his issues occupy a significant place in the libraries of architect Alexander Vlasov, director Sergei Stein, poets Evgeny Dolmatovsky and Boris Turganov, writer Immanuel Levin.

A loan from the Russian Empire. A document with watermarks, seals and autographed signatures by Nathan Mayer Rothschild A loan from the Russian Empire. A document with watermarks, seals and autographed signatures by Nathan Mayer Rothschild Nathan Mayer Rothschild is a German Jew, banker, businessman and financier. The Rothschild family is one of the most famous and richest dynasties in the world. They started out as antique dealers and grew up to be international bankers. The history of the dynasty of bankers and public figures of Jewish origin dates back to the end of the XVIII century. The document is one of the first Rothschild loans granted to our state. In June 1822, through the London banker Nathan Rothschild, a new loan was arranged in the amount of 43 million rubles in silver coin (6.6 million pounds) at 5% per annum. The holders of the securities were issued certificates for 720, 960, 3,360 and 6,720 rubles. ser. Repayment of the loan, as well as interest payments, had to take place either through the offices of the Rothschilds or through a government establishment in St. Petersburg. The sale of bonds was also carried out in St. Petersburg – that is, this loan was not purely external. The funds from the loans were to be used to stabilize the country's monetary system and streamline the domestic government loan. As a result, in 1824, the external debt increased to 107 million rubles. Nathan Mayer Rothschild, after leaving his parents' home in 1798, moved to Manchester and established his own textile supply business with the help of his father's and brothers' capital. Later, after moving to London, he became involved in commercial bills and founded the bank N M Rothschild & Sons. The businessman achieved great success when the British government attracted his bank to finance a military campaign against Napoleon Bonaparte. Through government connections and his agents, Rothschild learned of Wellington's victory over the French at Waterloo. After receiving the news of the outcome of the battle, Nathan began selling bonds, which facilitated the massive sale of bonds on the London stock exchange — everyone thought that the British army had lost the battle. Prices dropped significantly, and at the same moment, the banker's agents bought up all the securities at a bargain price. Thus, Rothschild increased his capital by 20 times and gained control of the market. It was then that he said his famous phrase: "Whoever owns information owns the world."
