Yitzhak Navon is an Israeli statesman, the fifth president of Israel, the author of many short stories on Jerusalem folklore, a collection of essays about David Ben—Gurion, and the host of the television series Jerusalem in Spain, which tells about the rich and tragic life of the Jewish communities of the Iberian Peninsula.
All his political activities and not only were imbued with love for Israel, he made efforts to bring together different communities of Israeli society, Jewish citizens of the state and non-Jewish Israelis. Thanks to his abilities and excellent knowledge of Arabic, he did his best to promote friendly relations between Israel and its neighbors, especially with Egypt.
