Yitzhak Rabin is an Israeli politician, statesman and military figure, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. He stressed the importance of strengthening security and the duty of the Palestinians to fight terrorism. Yitzhak Rabin has managed to become a national symbol for many Israelis.

Under his command, the Israeli Army won a brilliant victory in the Six-Day War and entered the Old City of Jerusalem, where Rabin delivered a fiery speech of triumph. After that, a career in politics opened up for the young military man.

Thanks to the policy of Yitzhak Rabin, peace prevailed between Palestine and Israel for the first time in many years — it was he who came to the conclusion that the confrontation between Jews and Palestinians could be stopped through peaceful negotiations and concessions. The result of his new course was the conclusion of agreements in 1993, as a result of which Israel and Palestine for the first time announced mutual recognition of each other, as a result of which Yitzhak Rabin and his Palestinian counterpart Yasser Arafat were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
