Leon Trotsky (1879-1940) was one of the most influential Marxist revolutionaries and theorists in Russia. He was born in Ukraine into a family of workers. In 1896, he joined the revolutionary movement, participated in revolutionary events and was arrested for participating in underground activities.
The Stargift collection contains an extract from the Minutes No. 24 of the meeting of the Organizational Bureau of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) dated July 4, 1924. The document is marked "Top secret".
The year 1924 was a turning point in the biography of Leon Trotsky, as it was the time of the beginning of his active struggle with V. I. Stalin for leadership in the party and the state after the death of V. Lenin.
Of particular interest are other historical figures mentioned in the document: Mikhail Frunze, a prominent Soviet military and statesman, military theorist, one of the largest military leaders of the Red Army during the Civil War, and Alexander Bubnov, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party (b).
Trotsky played a key role in the October Revolution of 1917, leading the Red Army and ensuring its victory. He was one of the main organizers and popularizers of the idea of a "professional army" and a "permanent revolution," a concept that proposed world revolution as a means of overcoming the capitalist crisis and strengthening the socialist state.
