Birch icon "Nicholas the Wonderworker" in Kyoto Birch icon "Nicholas the Wonderworker" in Kyoto The icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is in every Orthodox church. St. Nicholas the Saint is also revered in the homes of the Orthodox: in almost every believing family, the image of St. Nicholas is adjacent to the faces of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Mother of God. Nicholas received his gift to work miracles from God as a child. The child grew up really religious, deeply believing and obedient, despite the fact that during his lifetime Christianity was persecuted by the state. There are cases of people being resurrected by prayer performed by Nicholas during his lifetime. He cured ailments, and also did many other good deeds — for example, he helped those in need, although he gave up his own property at a conscious age. Nicholas the Wonderworker is deservedly considered the savior of the innocently convicted and slandered. He has always been a champion of justice, and also had the ability to appease enemies. This special wisdom is reflected in the image of St. Nicholas the Saint — the saint is basely depicted with a large forehead and an intelligent, penetrating look. In front of the icon of St. Nicholas, they pray for protection from adversity, appeasement of passions, and healing. He is the heavenly patron saint of travelers, warriors, farmers, trade workers, students and children. Holidays in honor of St. Nicholas fall on May 22, August 11 and December 19.

Birch icon "Nikolai Mozhaisky" in Kyoto Birch icon "Nikolai Mozhaisky" in Kyoto The ancient miraculous carved image of St. Nicholas with a temple in his left hand and a sword in his right was named after the place of his glorification in the city of Mozhaisk, where the sculpture was placed in a special kiosk in St. Nicholas Cathedral. The monument is the first in a series of images of the saint in this iconographic type. The origin of the iconography of "Nikola Mozhaisky" is usually explained by an oral local legend, recorded at the end of the XIX century, about the appearance of St. Nicholas over the besieged city of Mozhaisk with a sword in his hand. However, other, more ancient texts related to the formation of iconography are also known. First of all, it is "The Story ... about the coming of the wonderworker Nicholas to Caesarea Philippova ...", included in his "Life ...", written by Simeon Metaphrastus (X century). The story was also part of the so-called "Other Life", translated into Slavic in the XI century. The Bulgarian edition of the Syrian life "Nikola the Wanderer" was widely distributed in Russia.

Birch icon "Our Lady of Kazan" in Kyoto Birch icon "Our Lady of Kazan" in Kyoto The Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is one of the most revered images of the Blessed Virgin Mary. "Kazan" - as the people lovingly abbreviated the full name of the icon - accompanied the believer from birth to his last breath. Kazan blessed the woman in labor and the baby. It was the Kazan image that was presented to the baptized after the Sacrament of Baptism. And it was customary to hang the Kazan Icon of the Virgin over the baby's crib - to protect against spiritual and physical ailments. Kazan was given to the newlyweds during the wedding: to protect the family. They prayed to the Kazan image of the Mother of God when they asked for healing from diseases, they prayed to the Kazan image for fear of sudden death. She was taken on trips with them. But the main thing is that the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God saved Russia more than once in a dashing year. That is why, since 1613 in Russia, the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was celebrated in a special way, and from 1649 until the revolution, October 22 in the old style or November 4 in the new, was considered a state holiday. This was how the national love of the image was legitimized. In 2005, Russia celebrated National Unity Day for the first time, and it was timed to coincide with the celebration of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

There are many miracles associated with it, one of which occurred when it was found. Legend has it that a certain peasant had a prophecy about getting rid of ailments with the help of prayer before the Virgin, after which he found the prototype in a church near Vologda and received the desired healing. The icon depicts the Mother of God surrounded by seven arrows or swords aimed at her. The hands of the Virgin are folded in prayer, sorrow and pain are visible on her Face. It is believed that the Mother of God is grieving for her Son Jesus, who voluntarily accepted suffering from people, and humanity itself, vegetating in sins. The seven-pointed image of the Mother of God is consonant with the icon "Softening of evil Hearts". The seven arrows represent the seven vices to which the souls of people are subject.   The icon with precious stones "St. Seraphim of Sarov" is gilded The icon with precious stones "St. Seraphim of Sarov" is gilded St. Seraphim of Sarov (in the world Prokhor Moshnin) He is one of the most revered and beloved Russian saints. He was born in the middle of the XVIII century in Kursk and came from the merchant class. Already in his childhood, Prokhor could see that he was especially marked by God: the life tells how one day the boy accidentally fell from the bell tower and remained alive. Another time, Prokhor was very ill, but he was healed by venerating the icon of the Mother of God. When, at the age of 22, the young man went on a pilgrimage to the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, he received a blessing from Elder Dosifey there to accept monasticism in the Sarov desert, and it was with this monastery that his entire subsequent life was connected. Having taken vows with the name Seraphim, the monk began to lead a truly angelic life, indulging in unceasing prayer and ascetic feats. The life tells us that the saint spent a thousand days and nights in prayer on a stone. People became aware of the exploits of St. Seraphim, and many came to him asking for spiritual advice. One day, some robbers came to the saint's cell, hoping to find money there, and when they saw that they had nothing to steal from a beggar monk, they beat him half to death. Later they were captured, but St. Seraphim asked not to punish them, although since then he has remained bent and ill. The power of love was so strong in the saint that even animals felt it. The life tells how a bear came to Seraphim of Sarov from the forest, and the monk fed him. This plot is often depicted on the icons of the saint. With the blessing of St. Seraphim, the Diveevo Monastery was founded, which later became one of the most famous Russian women's monasteries. The memory of Seraphim of Sarov is celebrated on January 15 and August 1 in a new style.
