John Edgar Hoover is an American statesman, the head of the FBI, and the founder of the American school of domestic intelligence and counterintelligence. He turned the Bureau of Investigation into a powerful modern organization. There are legends about the huge FBI file cabinets created during Hoover's leadership. Some historians call Hoover the most influential man in the United States in the early 1950s.
Hoover set an absolute record for the longest leadership of the FBI — 47 years. During this time, he created one of the most effective law enforcement systems in the world, introducing scientific forensic methods, a unified fingerprint database and the first special agent training program in the United States.
