The moment you pull the pin from the grenade, your mind is focused: the grenade is active, and you must focus on what is happening here and now in order to survive. The grenade from L'Epée 1839 gives a similar effect when you pull out its pin. You can change the time to whatever you want, and by winding the winding spring, you give it the opportunity to direct that time.
