Nikita Sergeevich Khrushchev was an outstanding Soviet party and statesman. First Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. Hero of the Soviet Union, three times Hero of Socialist Labor, recipient of seven Orders of Lenin. Khrushchev played a key role in the de-Stalinization of the country, starting a course towards political and economic liberalization. Under his rule, the USSR made a huge leap in space exploration: it was during this period that Yuri Gagarin became the first man to conquer space.

"Living in Peace and Friendship" is a book dedicated to issues of international cooperation and building peaceful relations between peoples. It reflects the views of the era of defusing international tension and the struggle for peaceful coexistence against the backdrop of the Cold War.

It is noteworthy that in 1960, when the inscription in the book was made, Khrushchev became the first Soviet leader to speak at the UN General Assembly, where he demonstrated the famous episode with the shoe, protesting against the "colonial policy" of the West.
