In the manufacture of a durable chessboard case, we use an array of sycamore maple. It is an almost white wood with a finely porous texture pattern and a natural silky sheen. We make light cells and shapes from sycamore maple. Dark figures made of tropical rosewood are organically combined with them.
The dark cells are made of walnut root. The playing field is complemented by letters and numbers made of rare maple “bird's eye". The chess pieces from the Staunton Suite set are distinguished by a laconic, strict design with clear lines.
Well-chosen proportions of the figures allow players to quickly and without interference assess the game situation, making the right decisions. The characteristic individual finials make it possible to easily distinguish the figures: the cross of the king, the ball of the queen, the Catholic mitre of the elephant, the fortress tower of the rook.
The figure of a horse with a horse profile attracts attention. Nathaniel Cook was inspired to create it by the frieze of the Parthenon temple, built by Phidias in the 5th century BC. The supports of the figures are lined with felt, which ensures their soft and smooth movement on the board.
Lead weights give the chess a stable position. The chess set includes a chessboard chest and a roomy handmade case with copper fittings. Inside the board there is a deep bed with cells for storing figures
