The first edition of The History of the Chevalier des Grieux and Manon Lescaut was confiscated in France for "immorality" and distributed secretly; this novel has been successfully republished to this day. A soldier, monk, adventurer, writer and translator, Abbot Prevost (1697-1763) created a book in which many researchers partially see his own biography, and the reader will find a classic love story that has taught dozens of generations of authors of psychological novels a lot. Reflecting on moral rules, one cannot help but be amazed to see how people at the same time respect them and neglect them; one wonders what is the reason for that strange property of the human heart that, being carried away by the ideas of goodness and perfection, it actually moves away from them.
This edition of the works has earned the reputation of being the best in the history of printing. The binding, decorated with gold and pancake embossing, a three-sided gold trim and a colored decorative backing give the publication a stylish and respectable look at the same time.
Design:The binding is made of genuine leather. All books have a three-sided gold edge and are placed in a handmade leather case with foil embossed on all sides of the case. The number of foil embossments is up to 9 different colors on the cover and case. The interior design of most books is printed in 5 colors (4 + gold) on each strip.
