The publication offered to the readers is the first weapons reference book in Russian practice, which provides a scientific and documentary justification for the existing combat-ready models of cold weapons that were in service with the Russian Guard, army and navy in the period 1700-1881. Also, for the first time, the scientific attribution of already known and newly identified weapons samples was carried out in the reference book. A wide range of weapons presented on the pages of the handbook represents the richest collections of domestic and foreign museums: the State Hermitage Museum, VIMAIViVS, GIM, Tula State Museum of Weapons, the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the Museum of the Polish Army. To identify rare and little-known samples of weapons, the authors had to turn to the funds of regional Russian museums located in Vladimir, Dmitrov, Izhevsk, Krasnoyarsk, Kostroma, Omsk, Perm and Chita. A significant contribution to the creation of a complete collection of weapons samples was made by private domestic and foreign collectors.
