"Christmas Stories" make up a small cycle of fairy-tale stories featuring ghosts, elves and fairies.
Dickens wrote them from 1843 to 1848, painting with broad strokes scenes from the life of contemporary English society.
At the same time, he appealed to human humanism, striving to improve the situation of the poorest segments of the population.
The illustrations for the collection were made by an English cartoonist of the XIX century. By Frederick Barnard.
The sharp pencil was useful to the artist while working on illustrations for various works of Dickens with an acute social orientation.
