Gustave Flaubert's famous novel Madame Bovary is deservedly considered one of the masterpieces of world literature, although after the first publication of the novel in 1856, its author was charged with insulting morality and he was brought to trial.
Later, these charges were dropped, and "Madame Bovary" took its rightful place among the literary classics of the XIX century.
In this edition, the text of the novel is translated by A. N. Chebotarevskaya and illustrated with drawings by Alfred de Richemont, which are as accurate in detail as the text of the great French novelist himself.
