Karl Eckartshausen (1752-1803) was a German mystic philosopher. His works were popular in aristocratic circles of Russia at the beginning of the XIX century and were included in the mandatory "gentleman's" set of an educated person of that time. The fact that wisdom is bestowed through tireless work on oneself only to a person with a pure heart, and many other important things for a modern and cultured person are told by the works of Eckartshausen, included in this edition – "The Instruction of a Wise to a tried friend" and "The Code, or the Law of the Human Mind."
