Amazement is the least that a person who realizes the magnitude of K. E. Tsiolkovsky's genius experiences. How could a self-taught man, who had practically lost his hearing and suffered constant hardships, lay the scientific foundations of modern cosmonautics? The realization of the most daring dream of mankind – about flying into space – began with the fact that the Kaluga dreamer mathematically justified the possibility of overcoming the force of gravity on a fundamentally new aircraft back in 1903. In pursuit of light and space, the cosmonautics theorist was the first to pose the problem of the survival of the human race, literally raising it to cosmic heights.
The collection is the result of a long-term study of all preserved sources in the Tsiolkovsky archive and combines the author's most significant works in the field of space exploration. The rare photographs, drawings and manuscripts of the author are used in the design of the publication.
