The publication is dedicated to the monumental murals of the Yaroslavl church of John the Baptist, executed at the turn of the XVII–XVIII centuries. An art group of the best Yaroslavl craftsmen has created a mural masterpiece unsurpassed in the number of depicted characters, biblical scenes and illustrations for short stories of books of soul-saving content, popular in Yaroslavl.
The book offers descriptions of 150 selected subjects representing key programmatic accents in different areas of the painting. For the first time, 12 wall paintings have been read and published, which are a unique subject in ancient Russian monumental painting.
