The Kazan icon of the Mother of God appeared in the city of Kazan 25 years after the conquest of the Kazan Khanate by Tsar John the Terrible. On June 28, 1579, a terrible fire destroyed part of the city and reduced half of the Kazan Kremlin to ashes. The fire in Kazan was an omen of the final fall of Islam and the establishment of Orthodoxy throughout the Golden Horde land. The city soon began to rise from the ruins. The Mother of God appeared to the nine-year-old daughter of Sagittarius Danil Onuchin in a dream vision and ordered Her to get Her icon, buried in the ground by secret confessors of Orthodoxy even under the rule of Muslims. As a result, the icon was found, and Archbishop Jeremiah arrived at the place of the miraculous finding and transferred the image to the nearest temple, from where, after the prayer service, the icon with the Procession was transferred to the Annunciation Cathedral. Soon the icon became a national shrine, a sign of the Heavenly protection of the Mother of God, revealed to the entire Russian Church. For several decades, Russian missionary explorers traveled many thousands of kilometers to the east and in 1639 set sail for the first time. The icon was painted in compliance with all iconographic canons. To create the work, the jewelers used exclusively high-quality, environmentally friendly, and most importantly, beautiful materials that perfectly match each other. The basis of the work is made by the method of tempera painting by Levkas on a lime board, which allows you to work out in detail even the smallest elements of the composition, to achieve maximum expressiveness. Inside, the icon is lined with a scattering of multicolored cubic zirconia, rhinestones, pearls and other stones that perfectly match each other. The icon is decorated in a luxurious patterned kiosk decorated with gilding.

According to legend, the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God was painted by the holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke. The Mother of God, seeing this image, said: "From now on, all births will please Me. May the grace of Him who was born of Me and Mine be with this icon." Many great miracles were revealed from the image, more than once, through prayers before it, the Most Holy Theotokos delivered Russia from enemies. The most solemn celebration of the icon takes place on September 8 (August 26, according to the Art.art.), when the miracle of Moscow's deliverance from the invasion of Khan Tamerlane's troops occurred in 1395. The icon of the Most Pure was carried by the crosswalkers from Vladimir to Moscow for 10 days and many people prayed to the Most Holy Theotokos for the deliverance of Russia from the enemy. At the moment of the icon's meeting with Muscovites, in a dream vision, the Blessed Virgin Mary ordered Khan Tamerlane to leave Moscow, which eventually happened.
