The board is glued from pre-dried boards, then a leucas chalk layer of chalk, fish glue and gauze is applied. After drying, grinding is performed, the reverse side of the workpiece is varnished. This process takes at least a month without drying the wood. After that, the board goes to an artist who has experience in painting iconostases and restoring icons. 96-grade gold leaf is applied to the board, the painting is done with tempera paints mixed with natural egg yolk and painted with gold leaf. The finished product is covered with 6-8 layers of varnish and, after drying, is manually sanded to avoid glare. To comply with church canons, canonical images of the Russian Orthodox Church are used as samples.
