To decorate the watches from the Emily collection, we turned to the traditional jewelry technique of notched enamel. In order for the enamel to sparkle with bright colors and be filled with a radiant sheen, the craftsmen need to perform many operations. First, an openwork structure is created on a silver plate by carving or stamping, a guilloche (hatching on metal with a chisel) is also used to add additional depth to the pattern, then the resulting cells are gradually filled with enamel, subjecting each layer to firing, after which the product is polished. The result is a bright, iridescent image that resembles colorful stained glass windows.
