Юлия Федотова (ULAFONBERBER) — последователь академической школы. В своих работах размышляет на тему метафизического, трансцендентного. Как автора ее занимают фундаментальные вопросы жизни, смерти и внутренней трансформации.

Юлия окончила Московский государственный академический художественный институт имени В. И. Сурикова под руководством профессоров М. В. Переяславца и Н. В. Колупаева. Член Союза художников России, Московского союза художников и Объединения московских скульпторов.

В 2018 году дипломная работа Юлии «Тибетские мотивы» была награждена медалью Российской академии художеств. С 2020 года Юлия работает над собственными проектами.

Греческие корни и академическое образование сформировали у скульптора приверженность к реалистическому искусству. В то же время ей особенно близко мировоззрение тибетской духовной традиции, направленной на постижение природы умом и достижение счастья.

The figure of the warrior, frozen in an attacking pose with a raised sword, is made of bronze, covered with a noble green patina. The expertly crafted folds of traditional Japanese clothing emphasize the tension in the body, convey the inner spiral dynamics and the feeling of the moment before impact. The figure is mounted on a massive base of dark wood, simple and austere, serving as a philosophical and visual support for the expression of the image. The works of the "Japanese series" reflect on the theme of the way of the warrior, as an indomitable intention and action. The "Warrior" shows the aspect of active action, going outside, interacting with the outside. The body line seems to be rushing forward, but retains its inner composure. It is not just a composition, but a form that carries the cultural code, the idea of concentration, proactive movement, and the will to overcome. The author creates an emotional and plastic image at the same time — cold metal becomes an expression of living philosophy. The work was created in 2022 and is part of the author's series dedicated to Eastern philosophy. This is not just a decorative object, but a frozen image of the moment before the action — an inner impulse materialized in bronze. The samurai is depicted at the moment of a rapid lunge forward — the body is tilted, one leg breaks out in a sudden movement, and the hand is already beginning to draw the sword from the scabbard. The whole body is permeated with an impulse that has not yet become a blow, but has already determined the outcome of the duel. In this anticipation of action, the philosophy of iaido is embodied: an art where every gesture is brought to automatism, and victory is born not in attack, but in clarity of intent. A samurai's swordsmanship was determined by the number of swings of the sword —the fewer of them, the higher the warrior's skill. Over time, Japan has developed a whole school of "One—punch Art" - iaido. This sculpture visualizes the idea of complete concentration before a lightning-fast action. The volume of the figure is based on the play of draperies: the folds of clothing seem to develop in a stream of air, while they are cast with precision, making the bronze seem like solidified matter. Each curve is thoughtful and expressive, as if it captures the inner silence before a flash of movement. The contrast of the dark patinated bronze with the smooth wooden base adds extra depth to the composition. There is a frozen movement in her pose, concentration in her facial expression, and confidence in the line of her shoulders and neck. The fan in her hand is not decorative, it is an extension of character, a sign of a conscious choice of position. The union of a fan and a katana is a metaphor for the integrity of a woman's nature. In modern culture, a woman is often associated with softness, pliability, and streamlined fragility. This is just one facet, sometimes superficial. The other side — hidden, deep, strong — remains in the shadows: strong-willed, internal, capable of defending, leading, protecting. This sculpture is about her. The sight of girls starting their day in harmony with the world and themselves embodies in the sculptor's mind a state of innocence, purity and fragility. Yulia Fedotova, an artist and a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, went to the Tuva reservation in search of inspiration. There she was struck by the pristine nature — endless steppes, sacred mountains, healing springs and the hospitality of nomadic families. The contrast between the leisurely lifestyle of nomads and the hustle and bustle of civilization awakened in her a deep sense of freedom, liveliness and organic human movement in space — qualities inherent in her subsequent sculptures.
