Vyacheslav Chanov is a Soviet football player, goalkeeper, and Russian coach. Since 1995, he has worked intermittently as a goalkeeper coach at CSKA. During his time with the team, he educated and brought such goalkeepers as Igor Akinfeev, Vladimir Gabulov, Veniamin Mandrykin to the main team of the club and the national team.
Vyacheslav Chanov's father and younger brother, Viktor Gavrilovich and Viktor Viktorovich, are also famous goalkeepers. They are often referred to as the "goalkeeper dynasty of the Chanovs."
Until June 19, 2008, Vyacheslav Chanov was the record holder in Russian football in the number of reflected penalties (12). Igor Akinfeev is currently in the lead in this indicator (19). Vyacheslav Chanov is also a member of the Lev Yashin Club, a symbolic club that includes goalkeepers who play or played for Russian and Soviet clubs and have kept their gates intact in 100 or more official matches. Chanov's record is 130 matches without conceding goals.
