Rene Lacoste is a French tennis player and businessman, the founder of the Lacoste brand. He became one of the most famous tennis players in the 1920s and 1930s and was a member of the "great four" tennis players, along with such stars as Jean Borotre, Henri Cochet and Jacques Brunion. Together, they earned the nickname "The Four Musketeers" after the release of the first major film adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' novel in the 1920s.

It is curious that Rene received the nickname "Crocodile" for his perseverance and fierce struggle on the court. This nickname also became the basis for the logo of his brand, Lacoste, which he founded in 1933.
