An autographed guitar
Peter Tork is an American musician, composer, actor, best known as the keyboardist and bass guitarist of the legendary rock band The Monkees.
Even as a child, Peter began to show interest in music, by the age of 10 he learned to play the piano, later mastered the banjo, acoustic bass and guitar.
In 1966, Tork joined the band The Monkees, which was formed on the initiative of the NBC television company specifically to launch the series of the same name, as the American version of The Beatles. Even the name itself is a reference to the name of the British band: The Beatles replaced the letter "a" in the word "beetles" ("beetles"), and The Monkees was written with a replacement for "e", from the word "monkeys" ("monkeys").
According to the casting results, Mike Nesmith, Davey Jones, Mickey Dolenz, all talented actors and musicians took part in the show along with Tork. Initially, they were supposed to imitate playing instruments and just star in the series as artists. But popularity grew, and so did enthusiasm. And already working on the third record, the guys recorded their own music and became full-fledged performers, not just actors of a TV show.
The period of success occurred in 1966-1971, during which time four of the six albums released by the original line-up of the team were able to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart, and the total circulation of the records totaled about 65 million copies as a result.
