Even the name itself is a reference to the name of the British band: The Beatles replaced the letter \"a\" in the word \"beetles\" (\"beetles\"), and The Monkees was written with a replacement for \"e\", from the word \"monkeys\" (\"monkeys\").<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>According to the casting results, Mike Nesmith, Davey Jones, Mickey Dolenz, all talented actors and musicians took part in the show along with Tork. Initially, they were supposed to imitate playing instruments and just star in the series as artists. But popularity grew, and so did enthusiasm.
