"To Leonid Sladkov
Good luck!
Beregovoy 07.01.82"
Georgy Beregovoy is a Soviet cosmonaut and Honored test pilot, Lieutenant General of Aviation. Twice Hero of the Soviet Union and the only person who was awarded the first Hero's Star for the Great Patriotic War, and the second for space flight.
Beregovoy was born earlier than anyone else who had been in orbit (he was born 3 months earlier than John Glenn, but later than Joe Walker, who made suborbital space flights on the X-15 in 1963 and died in 1966, before Beregovoy's flight). Having completed a space flight at the age of 47, for several years he was the oldest person to have been in orbit.
The book comes from Leonid Sladkov's personal collection. Leonid Sladkov worked for the USSR Philately magazine for many years and always, meeting with the heroes of his essays and interviews, asked them to sign on a postal envelope or postcard. This is how his collection appeared, which today has become an authentic document of the era.
