The specific recipient is not known. The letter was sent to the hotel in Paris at the address - Quai Malaquais. Baron Alexander von Humboldt is a German geographer, naturalist and traveler, one of the founders of geography as an independent science. Humboldt's scientific interests were extremely diverse. His main task was to "comprehend nature as a whole and collect evidence of the interaction of natural forces." For the breadth of his scientific interests, his contemporaries nicknamed him the Aristotle of the XIX century.
