Edmund Hillary is a New Zealand explorer and mountaineer, deservedly awarded the title of "Pioneer of Mount Everest". Hillary's countless climbing victories have earned him worldwide fame as the first person to conquer the top of Jomolungma and both poles of the Earth (North and South). These incredible achievements have inspired generations of adventurous athletes to compete fiercely in achieving the goal of the "Three Poles Challenge" or "Three Poles Challenge".
On May 29, 1953, at the age of thirty-three, Hillary, together with fellow climber Tenzing Norgay, made the first ascent to the top of Mount Everest in the history of mankind. After the crushing conquest of Mount Everest, Hillary earned his living by public speaking and organizing further expeditions, constantly motivating athletes and arousing global interest in mountaineering.
The merits of the climber were often noted by the world community. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people of the twentieth century. In 1992, Edmund became the first New Zealander whose image appeared on a New Zealand 5-dollar bill during his lifetime.
