Omar Khayyam (1048-1131) was a great Persian philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and poet who made significant contributions to algebra and astronomy, as well as created one of the most accurate calendars in the world. His rubai, short philosophical quatrains, have become a world—famous cultural heritage, which contains the cheerful and profound wisdom of human life, fate and eternity. His work has captivated and inspired readers for almost a thousand years, combining lightness, audacity and a subtle poetic cut comparable to the art of a jeweler. In his four lines, he reflected the complexity and beauty of human existence, filling each poem with a lively dialogue with the inexplicable forces of fate and eternity. Thanks to Omar Khayyam, the rubai genre became a classic of Persian literature and left an important spiritual legacy of freedom and depth of thought to posterity.
