From that moment on, his worldwide fame became more and more popular, and the fashion for Khayyam turned into an epidemic. O. Gift books in leather cover "Decameron", D.Boccaccio (2 volumes)Gift books in leather cover "Decameron", D.Boccaccio (2 volumes)Most likely, Boccaccio wrote the Decameron between 1348 and 1353 in the very form in which we have the opportunity to read it today. The widest range of both tragic and comic worldviews makes him a masterpiece, interesting to descendants no less than to Boccaccio's contemporaries. Stylistically, it is the most perfect example of Italian classical prose, and its influence on Renaissance literature throughout Europe is difficult to overestimate.
"Decameron” begins with the escape of three men and seven women from the plague-ridden Florence to a rich country mansion. Here, for two weeks, everyone takes over the reins of government in turn, determining the daily routine for the whole company: walks, dances, songs; but, above all, stories told to each other for ten days. Artless, sparkling, filled with humor, erotic scenes, religious reflections. Hence the name “Decameron". A collection of one hundred short stories

Tales of the Thousand and One Nights is a monument to medieval Arabic and Persian literature, a collection of short stories united by the story of the Persian king Shahriyar and his wife named Shahrazada (Scheherazade). The question of the origin and development of "1001 nights" has not been fully clarified to date. Attempts to search for the ancestral home of this collection in India, made by its first researchers, have not yet received sufficient justification. The prototype of the "Nights" on Arab soil was probably a translation of the Persian collection "Hezar Efsane" (A Thousand Fairy Tales) made in the tenth century. This translation, called "A Thousand Nights" or "A Thousand and One Nights", was, as Arab writers of that time testify, very popular in the capital of the eastern caliphate, in Baghdad. We cannot judge his character, since only the story framing him, which coincides with the frame of "1001 nights", has reached us. Various stories were inserted into this convenient frame at different times, sometimes whole cycles of stories, in turn framed, such as "The Tale of the Hunchback", "The Porter and the Three Girls" and others. Individual fairy tales of the collection, before their inclusion in the written text, often existed independently, sometimes in a more widespread form. It can be reasonably assumed that the first editors of the text of fairy tales were professional storytellers who borrowed their material directly from oral sources; under the dictation of the storytellers, fairy tales were recorded by booksellers who sought to satisfy the demand for the manuscripts of "1001 nights".

"The Trilogy of Desire" ("Financier", "Titan", "Stoic") is the most significant work of American and European literature of the XX century. With exceptional pictorial power, Dreiser outlines the way of life and mores of the financial environment, the spiritual emptiness of the big bourgeoisie, its purely physiological attitude towards women, predatory approach to society and political unscrupulousness.
