“Rubaiyat” Omar Khayyam is the best collection of Middle Eastern philosophy in brilliant translations by Ivan Tchorzhevsky and other famous Russian poets of the Silver Age. The collection includes translations of works by Persian poets of the X-XVI centuries: Ibn Sina, Abu Sayyid, Hafiz, Rumi, Nizami, Saadi, Khakani, and of course the rubai of Omar Khayyam himself. All the poems are complemented by hundreds of illustrations by Mohammad Tajwid, reproductions of late medieval miniatures, drawings from Kashmiri manuscripts of the XVIII century. The book sets out the main milestones of Khayyam's life and work, and provides alternative translations of his Rubai, with notes and pointers.
