The collection contains the texts of four operas by Wilhelm Richard Wagner (1813-1883): "The Gold of the Rhine", "Valkyrie", "Siegfried" and "The Death of the Gods", forming the cycle "Ring of the Nibelung". The renowned composer independently created these texts based on mythology and epic. Translations from German were made by Viktor Kolomiytsov.
The publication is preceded by his preface, dedicated to the peculiarities of translations of Wagner's dramas.
The book is decorated with illustrations by the famous British artist Arthur Rackham.
