Gift book "Kings of the Ocean" by Gustave Emard, in 2 volumes

The French writer Gustave Emard (1818-1883) did not get acquainted with distant countries, the sea element, Indians, gold mines and other attributes of adventure literature at all in the library. As a boy, he ran away from home and got a job as a cabin boy on a ship, striving at all costs to get to the "wonderland" – America. Twenty years of wandering allowed the future writer to stock up on exciting stories for the future.

The novel "Kings of the Ocean", which completes the cycle of the same name, embodies the very spirit of adventure with amazing vividness: the atmosphere of freedom, battles on land and at sea, exciting love stories, proud and noble heroes – pirates, adventurers, ruthless to enemies, but honest and fair. The book reproduces illustrations made by French artists for the first editions of Emard's novels.
