The words added by the translators "for clarity and communication of speech" are typed in italics. In the text of the Old Testament, the words taken by the authors of the Synodal translation from the Septuagint (Greek Bible) are enclosed in square brackets. In this edition, these inserts from the Greek Bible are preserved only where, from the point of view of modern textual science, the Greek text may be closer to the original than the Hebrew text that has come down to us. In the text of the New Testament, words taken from the Slavic translation or later Greek manuscripts are enclosed in square brackets. The edition is accompanied by a Dictionary of borrowed, rare and obsolete words, so some of the footnotes of previous editions turned out to be superfluous and were omitted.
