The book "The Cradle of the House of Romanov" is dedicated to the Holy Trinity Ipatiev Monastery, a unique monument of spiritual culture and one of the main symbols of the formation of Russian statehood. It is from this monastery that the history of the rule of the great Romanov dynasty begins, when in 1613 Mikhail Fedorovich was called to reign, which put an end to the Time of Troubles and marked the beginning of a new era in the history of Russia.
Throughout the centuries of its existence, the Ipatievsky Monastery remained the center of spiritual life and enlightenment in the Kostroma region, a "house of prayer" (Isa. 56, 7), designed to "sanctify and comfort" the hearts and souls of people (Ser. 49, 9-12). Ancient manuscripts were carefully preserved here, among which the famous Ipatiev Chronicle stands out — one of the most important sources on the history of Ancient Russia. The walls of the monastery remember the prayers of royalty, fateful decisions and solemn divine services.
The book pays special attention to the architectural and artistic appearance of the monastery. His ensemble is associated with the names of such outstanding masters as the icon painters Gury Nikitin and Sila Savin, as well as architect Konstantin Andreevich Ton, the author of the project of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. The publication includes rare archival materials, photographs, reproductions of icons and engravings, thanks to which the reader can immerse himself more deeply into the atmosphere of Russian spiritual tradition and majestic history.
