Heated blue Tanzanite from Tanzania 15.68 carats

Tanzanite was discovered in 1967 at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (which gave the stone its name). Tanzanite is a pleochroic gemstone, meaning it can have different colors under different lighting conditions. In natural light, the stone resembles a sapphire in color, but in fluorescent light it is closer to amethyst. In nature, it is trichroic, that is, depending on the illumination of its three crystalline axes in colored stones, it can exhibit blue, red-purple and yellow-green shades.

In the last few years, the popularity of tanzanite has increased dramatically. Its mineral name is zoisite, and in nature it has a reddish-brown color; it acquires its beautiful blue or purple hue due to heat treatment.
