For all generations, the classic cars of the 50s are firmly rooted in the collective subconscious and imagination. Single-seater cars with elegant design, smooth lines and impressive aerodynamics bring many dreams to life.
Time Fast, which was developed by George Foster when he was a graduate student at ECAL, draws inspiration from the dream of becoming a racer or simply from the desire to experience the thrill of speed. To create this realistically proportioned mechanical sculpture, he used his childhood memories to add symbols and images such as boards, bodywork and steering wheel.
A motorsport fan, Georg remembers the typical sound of smoldering engines and the metallic click that follows a frantic race, almost repeating the tick-tock of the Time Fast D8 descent.
The formation and production were completely entrusted to the factory's passionate teams, consisting mainly of automotive enthusiasts. With the exception of raw aluminum casting, crystals and precious stones that come from other places, each piece has passed through the hands of about twenty experts in the workshops of L'Epée 1839.
The engine consists of a multi-level mechanism with an 8-day power reserve, which completely repeats the curves of the body.
The hours and minutes are displayed on the side through a hole resembling a typical competition number, using two engraved stainless steel discs. On the other side of the chassis there is an advertising space, a characteristic circle on iconic racing cars, which can be customized if desired to create an individual car, for example, by engraving (the L'Epée 1839 logo is included as standard). .
In the cabin, the steering wheel of the car, which has been specially designed to turn on the time setting wheel, can be used to adjust the time in case of engine failure. The counterclockwise control located on the driver's seat adjusts the time, and the clockwise adjustment can be used to change the position of the steering wheel after setting the correct time.
Time Fast D8 needs to be replenished (with mechanical energy) once a week. The barrel of the mechanical caliber is wound up by rotating the wheels in the opposite direction to provide the car with the power necessary for full operation. Meanwhile, the driving mode is simply designed to provide unhindered enjoyment.
