David Hasselhoff is an American actor and singer who holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular male on television. He is best known for his roles in the television series Knight of the Roads and Rescuers of Malibu.
At the end of his acting career in the 2000s, music became Hasselhoff's main activity, with the singer releasing 13 albums in total. In 2006, Hasselhoff released a music video for the song "Jump in My Car", in which the actor parodied his character from "Knight of the Roads". The Pontiac Trans Am from the video is an exact replica of Michael Long's KITT car: right–hand drive and even with a catapult.
Forty years after the release of the movie "Knight of the Roads," we've all become familiar with voice-activated personal assistants (like Siri or Alexa). KITT's voice assistant, invented for the film, was much more human—an intelligent, emotional and sarcastic crime-fighting machine. It was significantly ahead of its time thanks to its self-driving and parking capabilities. The recipe for a successful example of the visual pop culture of the 80s: several bright displays on the dashboard and a stylish red stripe scanner in the front of the car, called an anamorphic equalizer.
