This is a unique book from almost a century ago — the "Guidebook on the Inland Waterways of the USSR", published in Moscow in 1932. The guidebook is the most comprehensive pre-war reference book on the country's waterways (710 pages). It is noteworthy that the book was published at a time when almost all the rivers of our country flowed in their natural channels — numerous dams and hydroelectric power stations had not yet blocked their rapid flow.
The guidebook was released in a limited edition, the edition presented in the collection includes more than 200 illustrations of steamships and motor ships, marinas and shipyards, about 80 charts. Another edition of this book is kept in the Uglich State Historical and Architectural Art Museum.
Along with the necessary information about the conditions of swimming in a particular basin, about sights, about the construction of factories, about the development of cultural life, etc., the guide gives the history of river transport, introduces the heroic struggle of water workers in the river basin areas during the civil war and unfolds a picture of socialist construction, especially focusing on the Volga construction projects, Moskanalstroy, Ural-Kuzbass, Dono-Azovskaya highway.
