The collection includes a rare book "On the Oil Trail" by Mikhail Teleznikov, a Soviet columnist and journalist who lived in Baku. "Following the Oil Trail" is a work of fiction that tells about the discovery of a new oil well in Baku on behalf of an unnamed oilman hero. The book vividly conveys emotions at the discovery of a new oil field, describes the life of oil production workers in Baku and the technical details of oil production at that time.
In 1871, an incredible thing happened in Baku that changed the history of the oil industry forever. As a result of the fire at the Black City oil well, the oil column suddenly caught fire. This incident, dubbed the "Baku Fountain," became the world's first example of an "oil fountain eruption." Oil gushed for several days, and in this short period, more oil was produced than in many months of traditional production. The Baku Fountain became a turning point in the history of the oil industry because it demonstrated the potential of fountain production. Subsequently, this technology has spread widely around the world, significantly increasing the volume of oil production.
