The Stargift collection features a photo signed by Fidel Castro: "Fidel Castro Rus".
Fidel Castro is a Cuban revolutionary, statesman, political and party figure who led Cuba from 1959 to 2008. At the State level, he held the posts of Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Chairman of the State Council of Cuba.
Castro is considered the father of the Cuban Revolution. During his life, he survived more than 600 assassination attempts, challenged ten US presidents and became the arbiter of more than half a century of his country's history. Adored and hated, an implacable enemy and a great seducer, Fidel Castro is one of the last political giants of the 20th century.
In 1959, Fidel triumphantly entered Havana. Having no military education, this black-bearded and khaki-clad 32-year-old doctor of law with his "beards" defeated an 80,000-strong army and overthrew dictator Fulgencio Batista. Applying his "own military doctrine", he transformed the partisan movement into a parallel government consisting of partisan detachments and underground popular organizations.
Frustrating conspiracies inspired by Washington, Fidel sent 386,000 Cubans to fight in Angola, Ethiopia and Algeria. According to the former head of Cuban intelligence Fabian Escalante, from 1958 to 2000, he escaped 634 assassination attempts! "Since we all have to die a natural death, we don't want it to come to us even a minute earlier," Fidel, who almost never parted with his pistol, declared.
There are many myths associated with Fidel Castro. For example, after Fidel proclaimed the victory of the revolution from the rostrum in 1959, there were always pigeons around him. One of them was even sitting on his shoulder. Many saw this as a kind of supernatural sign – then the myth was launched into the people. Cubans thought that Fidel was under the protection of the most powerful local deity. For a long time, many residents of the country believed that he was immortal, until Fidel fell seriously ill in 2006.
