The year 1966 was marked by a triumph of fame for Lalo Shifrin. With the release of the TV series about special agents "Mission Impossible", Shifrin's music thundered throughout the country. There was hardly anyone in the USA in those years who did not hear the opening melody to this series. In it, Shifrin vividly demonstrated the recipe for success, finding the points of contact between jazz and symphonic music, composing an organic and consistent picture from these components.
It is noteworthy that Shifrin's music gave the films a special charm. "Cold-Blooded Luke", "Bullitt", "Cincinnati Kid", "Hell in the Pacific", "Coogan's Bluff", "Dirty Harry" – these classic films cannot be imagined without Schifrin's soundtracks, slightly angular and written in atypical musical dimensions.
Interestingly, Bruce Lee turned out to be a great connoisseur of Lalo's music. The brilliant fighter and actor practiced precisely to the tune of "Mission". Bruce Lee personally insisted on Shifrin's candidacy as a composer for his last lifetime film "Exit of the Dragon".
