Sergey Vladimirovich Mikhalkov is a Russian (Soviet and Russian) writer, poet, playwright and publicist, war correspondent, screenwriter, fabulist, public figure. Co—author of the text of the anthem of the Soviet Union and the author of the text of the anthem of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Union of Writers of the RSFSR, and from 1992 to 2008 - Chairman of the International Community of Writers' Unions. Mikhalkov's greatest fame came from his works for children.

Hero of Socialist Labor (1973), Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1967), winner of the Lenin (1970), three Stalin Prizes of the II degree (1941, 1942, 1950), the USSR State Prize (1978) and the Stanislavsky State Prize of the RSFSR (1977). Knight of the four Orders of Lenin (1939, 1963, 1973, 1983). Academician of the Russian Academy of Education. Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 8-11 convocations (1970-1989). Member of the CPSU since 1950.
