Before this collection, excerpts from the story were published only in the Sobriety and Culture magazine in 1988. The story \"Moscow - Petushki\" was written in 1969-1970 and distributed in samizdat. It was first published in the summer of 1973 in Israel in the magazine \"AMI\", with a circulation of 300 copies; then in 1977 in Paris.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The seriously ill Yerofeyev presented this copy and signed it at the hospital to one of his attending doctors.
