Personal business card of the writer Anton Chekhov with an autographPersonal business card of the writer Anton Chekhov with an autographOne of the gems of the Stargift collection is the personal business card of the great playwright, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. The inscriptions on the silk ribbons attached to the wooden cover and the velvet lining read "A. Chekhov 1898 Siest" and just below "in memory of our buytot" (translated from French - "purchase"). It is assumed that Chekhov is referring to his old friend, the artist Alexandra Khotyaintseva, with whom the writer spent long portrait sessions in the south of France in the winter of 1897-1898.
