An impression of the journal publications of S.I. Vavilov with autographs of the author to his friend academician P.A. Rebinder.
Peter Alexandrovich Rebinder (1898-1972) was a physicochemical scientist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences, based on his theoretical developments, new materials such as cermets, various types of artificial leather, heavy–duty cement were created. During the Great Patriotic War, P. A. Rebinder developed a formulation of a self-igniting liquid used to fight enemy tanks. He also led a group of scientists who developed a new type of machine lubricant for armored vehicles that did not harden or thicken in the cold. Rebinder scientifically substantiated the formulations of foaming agents, which, as a result of a gradual increase in the structural viscosity and mechanical strength of the films, gave foams of any resistance, and also developed various sticky formulations, preparations against fogging of gas mask glasses at low temperatures.
Sergey Ivanovich Vavilov (1891-1951) — physicist, founder of the scientific school of physical optics in the USSR, academician (1932) and President of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1945-1951), younger brother of Nikolai Ivanovich Vavilov (1887-1943) — genetic scientist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1929), criminally arrested in 1940, tortured and died in Saratov in prison in 1943.
