The body of the chessboard is made of solid African wenge wood, which is complemented by carved boxwood inserts. These are rare materials characterized by high strength and original texture. The wenge ebony has a rich color from dark brown to black, and a pronounced woody pattern. There is a carved pattern along the contour of the board, in the center of which is a light emblem of Napoleon Bonaparte. Light figures are made of boxwood, and dark figures are made of wenge.
For the light cells, we chose Karelian birch wood, which visually resembles marble. The dark cells are made from the root of a nut.
The figures in the Renaissance style are characterized by massive, rounded shapes. They consist mainly of spheres and hemispheres. The figure of the king immediately stands out among all the others for its size and the characteristic pommel in the form of a large crown. The rooks resemble rounded towers. Pawn, bishop and queen pieces have the same pommel and differ mainly in size.
The supports of the figures are lined with felt, which ensures their soft and smooth movement on the board. Metal weights give the chess a more stable position. The massive chessboard has carved decorations on the sides. It has a removable top cover, under which there is a soft velvet base with cells for storing figures. The kit includes a briefcase.
