"Two Captains" is an adventure novel written by Kaverin in 1938-1944, translated into many languages of the world and repeatedly filmed. In 2001, the musical "Nord-Ost" was staged based on the novel.
Samuel Yakovlevich Klebanov (1910, Orsha — April 16, 1942, Vitebsk airfield) was a Soviet pilot, during the Great Patriotic War, senior lieutenant, deputy commander of the bomber squadron of the 748th Long-range Aviation Regiment. He is one of the prototypes of Grigoriev's Sleigh, the main character of V. Kaverin's novel "Two Captains"
