"I am yours with my heart, always and everywhere yours!" This line of the great Russian poet Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov (1814-1841) is not addressed to a woman - to the Caucasus. "The Caucasus is becoming his poetic homeland" (Belinsky). It was there, in the Caucasus, that the realities of life and majestic nature surprisingly coincided with the poet's youthful romantic dreams. After all, both "Demon" and "Mtsyri" were conceived by him almost in childhood, but after getting acquainted with the Caucasus, the poems were repeatedly redone, polished, and brought to perfection. Do I need to explain that today, when the tragic fate of the poet is known, so much personal is read both in the loneliness of a Demon in the middle of the universe, and in the frenzied thirst for life of Mtsyri. Lermontov expressed himself strikingly relevant for posterity in Caucasian poems and poems - "Circassians", "Caucasian Prisoner", "Hadji Abrek" and others today are read either as a report from the front line, then as a hymn to freedom and a protest against despotism.
