Paradoxically, this is Wilde, who elevated the paradox to the rank of art and lifestyle, bringing it to a state of the highest, almost divine absurdity. The only paradox beyond his control turned out to be the paradox of his own essence. He was too special a man, too exceptional an artist, one of those who cannot bear the mundane. But the finale of those who so stubbornly, so blatantly do not fit into the framework of time and this routine is almost always tragic. The life he reigned over eventually broke his "king": "Prince Paradox" left, mercilessly condemned by those who had recently applauded him.
