One of the brilliant feuilletonists of the early 20th century, unanimously recognized as the "king" of this genre, the editor-in-chief of the most widely read, most widely circulated Russian newspaper for 15 years, a talented publicist and theater critic, Vlas Doroshevich began his journey into journalism and literature with Odessa newspapers. As a result, the notorious peculiar and ironic Odessa humor became part of his style along with the famous "short line", which gave rise to a lot of imitations. A trip to Western Europe and the East undertaken in 1879 enriched the publicist with the most vivid observations of the life and way of life of local peoples. India and Japan, the island of Ceylon and China, Turkey and Iran with their rich mythology and culture became the starting point for the artist's fantasy, a fantasy embodied in the original "Turkish Fairy Tales", "One Hundred Fairy Tales of the Peoples of the World", "Magic Mirror", "Legends and Fairy Tales of the East"".
