At all times, different nations have been proud of the successes of their compatriots. And Russia is no exception in this sense. Our country is spread over one-seventh of the world, our history has always been closely linked with the development of Western civilization, and the unique location between East and West gave rise to that special mentality that Tyutchev described in the famous lines: "You cannot understand Russia with your mind, you cannot measure it with a common yard." And indeed, the fate of the Russian people who have become famous all over the planet, those whose names are included in the list of world achievements in any field, be it science, culture, politics or sports, are somehow subtly similar to each other. Everything our compatriots undertook seems to have the imprint of a special, "Russian" spirit. We can rightfully be proud of our people and their achievements. Kruzenshtern, Mendeleev, Chekhov, Stanislavsky, Dostoevsky, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Gagarin, Makarov, Tereshkova, Kharlamov, Karpov and many others – all these people served their Fatherland by writing their names on the pages of history.
