Anton Antonovich Kersnovsky (1907-1944) rightfully belongs to the most prominent military historians of the 20th century. He received his first combat experience at the age of thirteen on the battlefields of the Civil War, but never became either a colonel or a general. He supported Russia with all his heart, but died in Paris at the height of the Second World War, which he predicted long before it actually began. Even during the lifetime of A. A. Kersnovsky, his works on military affairs were highly appreciated by his contemporaries, and after a century they became entrenched in a number of classic works on Russian military history.

Kersnovsky at once — the theoretical "Philosophy of War" and "History of the Russian Army", which includes essays on the history of the Russian Imperial army from the era of Peter I to the First World War.
